History: Part of the Kanawha County Library system, the Cross Lanes Branch Library was established as a branch library in 1976. The library's current building was constructed in 1999. Consisting of the main library in Charleston and branch locations in St. Albans, Glasgow, Clendenin, Cross Lanes, Dunbar, Elk Valley, Sissonville, Marmet and Riverside, the Kanawha County Library system is the largest in the state and now serves over 181,000 residents.
